"Little e" and fun in the sand

The "little e" outfit - thanks Beth & Ron!
We are very grateful for all of the beautiful outfits and gifts from family and friends. We are very lucky to have you in our lives! Thank you!

Webb continues to be a good big brother. He will get a burp cloth, blanket or bottle for Emerson and clap for himself when he's done. He understands that some things are hers and some things are his.

My friend Rachel stopped by to visit. Since we live in Franklin County, the discussion of mullets came up (very near and dear to our DSS history). Emerson was sleeping, so Rachel couldn't see the mullet that Emerson sports. Here is a picture, the best I could do. To occupy Webb while he's outside, we got him a sand and water play table. I should've taken a picture of him playing in the water last night. Holy cow, he didn't need a bath when he was done. He really enjoys playing in the sand - he's ready for the beach!!

Here's what Webb REALLY likes to do w/ the sand!

Week #2 w/ Emerson

Emerson went back to the doctor on Wednesday for her two-week check-up. She is/was 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 20 3/4 inches long! Amazing that in two weeks she's grown an inch and a quarter! She's sleeping much better (about every three hours) and is staying awake more during the day than at night! (thank goodness!)

Webb continues w/ his "good" big brother routine. He's less intrigued w/ poking Emerson's face now that the novelty of a new person in the house has worn off. Occasionally, he wants to be a baby on mommy's lap as well!

He was so ready to mow the lawn w/ Will this morning. He was standing around waiting on dad. But, it just got to be too much and he fell asleep while mowing the back yard! The child has his father's sleep genes - he can sleep anywhere, through anything!

Busy First Week

We've been keeping busy - Emerson had her first bath (not sure she liked it) and went to her first doctor appointment - she's up to 7 lbs. 9 oz.
Webb has been doing really well adjusting to his new sister at home. He is great about poking her in the eye when we do body parts...she can still see at this point. We're trying to encourage him to point to her feet or hands instead of facial areas.

Even Emerson seems to think Webb is pretty funny!

I'm this alert daytime or nightime-

I have no reference to time!

Emerson's First Few Days at Home

Well, we made it home on Friday, April 4. Good to be out of the hospital! Emerson decided to reverse her day and night on Friday, so I spent a few quality hours w/ her in the wee hours of the morning. Each night has gotten progessively better.

Webb has done remarkably well since Emerson arrived home: sharing his blanket, occasionally touching her w/ one finger (as if she's contagious) and helping to push the swing (gently, we remind him).

He wasn't interested in holding her when we tried for that photo op!
Will I get in trouble for doing this?

Mom says it's okay to help as long as I'm gentle w/ her!
