April & May events...

We thought we'd beat the heat by leaving home at the crack of dawn (7:00) to join our friends Kelli, Erik, Carter & Lukas at the zoo. No matter what time of the day or what season you go, I think any mention of the word zoo automatically means a heat wave...it was in the low 70's upon arrival - topping 90 by the time we left at 12:45.

And they're off!
RED LIGHT!!
Plotting the next plan of escape... Is this a foreshadowing of future line-ups?
Emerson thoroughly loved the tram w/ the wind blowing in her face!!
If you look to the left, you will see some very "wild" binoculars...they are an endangered species in NC.
A huge egg - I guess of the prehistoric era...room for two
Although my child was made fun of for hugging the ant-eater's rump (I think he was just resting), at least he wasn't playing w/ the DUNG beatles!!!!!!

This monkey escaped from his cage!

Sometimes we get to see other "wildlife" that don't necessary live in the zoo, but maybe belong there?...
Is this a Flintstone's relic?
This mac-daddy was looking to pick up some wild life in that outfit! The wife-beater is a clincher!

Mom took Webb & Emerson to Bruster's Ice Cream - Webb's inaugural visit - this is the result! Purple Dinosaur was a hit!
Emerson's first attempt at brushing her teeth...
We were making cards for Webb and Emerson's teachers for Teacher Appreciation week last week. I stepped away to get more paper and returned to find this. He was concentrating so hard, he didn't even hear me return! You can imagine my dismay if you know how I don't like my hands to be dirty! But, a child's joy cannot be repressed b/c mom doesn't like to be dirty!
This was the preliminary clean-up phase before putting him in the tub. I didn't want Emerson to turn colors too!

Easter 2009

I'm sad this picture is so blurry! Trying to remove the ears...again.
The body-less Elmo in the shopping cart...it could be traumatic for a child!
Peyton hosted an egg hunt on Saturday before Easter. He is a master egg-hunter!
Webb is picking up steam searching for eggs.

Webb and Peyton coloring together...such nice boys.

Webb got a "t-ball" set for Easter...he really whacks the ball!
notice the ball flying in the garage?
And here's the wind-up!
Emerson enjoying the azaleas...This takes some serious concentration.
Webb kidnaps Emerson Saturday mornings while mom and dad sleep in!

New Mexico

Here are some memories from our trip to NM over spring break...
They weren't just kidding about the dust storms & wind...
Checking each other out...
This isn't so bad...
I was intrigued by the old staples in a pile near the windmill...I don't know why.
This beauty is in a field down the road from my dad's! It really looks like the old west.
Grandpa and Webb get reacquainted. They haven't seen each other since Webb was a week old.
The three sisters...just before you get to the Mexican border.
The last stop before Mexico...Columbus, NM. Didn't feel like we were 4,000 ft. above sea level.
These nice Border Patrol agents humored me by letting me get a picture w/ them, their vehicle and the US/Mexican fence...
Looks like the welcome center up in St. Ignace. Really, it's the US Border Patrol "welcome center".
The kids were not as excited about the trip to the Mexican border.
This is called a Century plant. Guess it takes a really long time to grow.
Some scrubby cactus Will liked...
The tumbleweed in the playground. Who would've thunk it?
The sunset over the neighbor's house out Grandpa's front door.
Good night!

Emerson turns ONE!

Emerson turned ONE on April 2 - time sure has flown over the past year. We did a "smash" cake at home w/ Emerson on her birthday. She was very dainty and only got a little messy - not like Webb who ended up looking like the incredible hulk! Her birthday party was held at Marbles - like our friend Carter. We had a good time seeing some old friends and new friends.

Oh Oh! Am I allowed to get this messy?

Sugar overload!

Emerson's cake at her birthday party!
Caroline foregoing the spoon and digging in w/ her hand!
Peyton digging in!! YUM!
The Scioli Family...
Oma w/ two generations...
Nolan and Jason Wyss join us for birthday fun!
Daddy Mark help Gabriel w/ his ice cream!Emerson pondering the whole situation!
