Catching up and ending 2012...

WOW!  Time has gone by so fast from this summer!   After their return from the beach, Webb & Emerson went to their first summer camp at NC Museum of Life & Science. Webb did a Lego camp and Emerson did a day on the farm.  Emerson learned about farming and farm animals and tried new vegetables.

Then school started - Webb is in 1st grade while Emerson remains in pre-school: her last year!  She is ready to start Kindergarten.  She is always trying to keep up with Webb doing her "homework".  She is using his unused workbooks that were sent home from Kindergarten last year.  She does math, social studies and practices writing.  Webb has a great teacher and seems really invested in doing his best each day.  He is reading independently, so mom and dad spelling words to each other when we don't want him to know what we're saying isn't working so well anymore.  :/

Webb has lost four teeth since August. The Tooth Fairy brings gold $1 coins to him for his teeth.  He's pretty excited each morning! (here's three of four missing)

Emerson played soccer this fall as a member of the Deacons. She will continue another nine weeks this spring.  Webb was content to sit on the sidelines and cheer and occasionally help out at practice by scrimmaging with the team.  Nothing can convince him that he wants to run up and down the field though.

We visited the Edvard Munch art exhibit...the kids enjoyed keeping up with the numbers on the paintings and etchings...they wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything!

During October,  we even went on a hayride, picked our pumpkins and did a corn maze with our friend, Ms. Kathy!  For Halloween, Webb made life easy by wanting to dress as the yellow Angry Bird again.  Next year, he says he wants to be the black bird.  We'll see.  Emerson is in love with Minnie Mouse, so she was decked to the nines.  She didn't wear the special shoes trick or treating...not sure how well she can walk in little heels!  We enjoyed our night with our friends Campbell and Caroline. Thanks for the hospitality!

Will continues to run races - he's done three half marathons this year quite successfully.  He has also gotten sucked in to trail running with his friend Erik.  They are completing a three trail series in North Carolina.  They did the Eno River 12 mile trail in October, they will do a 20 mile race in February through the Uwharrie National Forest, and they will tackle the 12 mile Mountains to Sea Trail in April.  Me?  I'm sidelined for a few months after fracturing my heel while running the Eno River Trail and City of Oaks 1/2 marathon.   Hopefully, I'll be back on my feet to complete a 1/2 marathon the weekend before I roll into my 41st year!

We decorated for Christmas the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Glad to be able to enjoy the decorations for a full month this year!  The kids have been doing little projects to get ready for Christmas.  Last weekend they did Gingerbread Houses. We visited Santa on Monday. We went on a Christmas lights tour - froze our tails off...23 degrees is chilly no matter how pretty the lights are! Grandpa Bill spent Christmas with us, Ms. Kathy joined us for dinner and Uncle  Daryl flew down from Michigan after Christmas to visit for a few days!  What a fun break!

Now on to 2013~
